Join Virginia Tech Rec Sports for our FREE Youth Swim Day event at McComas Hall on Saturday, December 8th 10 AM-12PM.


They will be offering free youth swim lessons to all ages and skill levels. NO UNIVERSITY AFFILIATION REQUIRED so anyone who is interested can come. We do have limited space so you must register prior to the event.

Come out and enjoy Radford’s Holiday Parade, this Saturday December 1st at 11:00 AM.  The theme this year is “Radford Hometown Holidays-Past, Present, Future. The parade route will line-up on East Main Street between Tyler Avenue and University Drive Bridge and proceed westward along Main Street to the Central Square Shopping Center.

The YMCA at Virginia Tech presents their 49th Annual YMCA Craft Fair at the Blacksburg Community Center on Friday, November 9, 2018, through Sunday, November 11, 2018

YMCA Craft Fair Schedule:

• Friday, November 9th from 1:00-7:00 pm

• Saturday, November 10th from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm

• Sunday, November 11th from 12:00-4:00 pm

Join us for the 49th annual YMCA Craft Fair! Get ready for the holidays when you shop juried vendors and celebrate the beauty and diversity of handmade art.

This year also features coffee, teas and baked good from Bollo's, food trucks, live music and other fun family entertainment!

Adventure in the New River Valley: 2018 NRV Holiday Expo

NRV Recreation Inc. presents the 2018 NRV Holiday Expo at the New River Valley Fairgrounds on Saturday, November 3, 2018.  The expo is from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

Start your Holiday shopping early and come out to the New River Fairgrounds! Shop 100 spaces inside for holiday food, crafts and other gift ideas from craters, artisans and vendors. Food concessions will be available for both breakfast and lunch.

In addition to the shopping, take selfies with Santa and friends! Santa will also be in attendance for a Fun Kids' Pancake Breakfast from 9:00-10:00 am for $3.00 per person.

On Saturday, October 27th at 8 am for the Getting Scary on the Huckleberry 5k race and the Truck or Treat event at the Christiansburg Recreation Center.  At 9am there will be a free kids fun run.   After the race, participants can enjoy free breakfast prepared by Parks and Recreation staff and reunite with their children for the annual Truck or Treat event. Trucks from Christiansburg Fire, Police, Rescue and Public Works set up in the back parking lot of the Recreation Center for kids and kids at heart to look at and touch. There is a registration fee for 5k participants, but the Truck or Treat event is free.

The National Weather Service Office presents their 2018 Open House on Saturday, October 20, 2018, any time between 10:00 am until 3:000 pm.

Come out to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, VA for a tour of the facility and learn how the weather affects our region and what tools we use to observe, forecast, and communicate the weather.

The guided tour will last roughly an hour (the last tour group will start at 3:00 pm), and while there could be some initial wait time after you arrive and sign up, there will be other activities and displays outside to keep you occupied during any wait time.

The Pearisburg Merchants Association presents the 4th Annual Pearisburg Scarecrow Festival on Saturday, October 13, 2018, on Wenonah Avenue and Tazewell Streets in downtown Pearisburg, VA from 9:00 am till 5:00 pm.

Join in the fun of this family-friendly event featuring live music, vendors, food, petting zoo, car & motorcycle cruise-in, living history, dancing, and more! Featured guests are over 18 scarecrows, created by local businesses, organizations and groups, that will be displayed throughout the town.
